What happens when a scheme expires?

When a selective or additional licensing scheme reaches its end date, the council must either renew it (which requires a new public consultation and Secretary of State approval for schemes covering more than 20% of the council area) or let it lapse. If a scheme lapses, landlords in the affected area no longer need a licence - but this can change again if the council introduces a new scheme. Tuxa monitors all active schemes and will alert you if the status of any property you are tracking changes.
